We decided to get one of those bus tour packages and check out the city. It worked out really well because we got to see a huge chunk of the city, more than if I had tried to take them around and show them things!
We started off the morning with the 'downtown' leg of the tour. This ended up covering a lot of what we had seen the day before (WTC...Wall St...Battery Park...) but thats ok! We also transferred to a 'Brooklyn' tour bus that took us around the Brooklyn botanical gardens and the downtown area of Brooklyn. It was fun, but SO HOT. We ended up on a bus with a glass top instead of an open top, and it was like a greenhouse. I was about the die by the end of that leg of the trip.
We then hopped back on to a 'downtown' bus and we took it all the way up to Rockefeller Center. Dad really wanted to go to the Top of the Rock, and I'm glad that we did. Most people think to go to the top of the Empire State Building, but this way when you take photos, you have the Empire in the skyline!
After that, we walked to Times Square and had dinner at Bubba Gump's. I think this was probably the highlight of the trip for my brother. ;)
Then, we hopped back on another bus. Seriously, so much bus riding that day! We took the 'night tour' which is probably my favorite leg of all the touristy NYC bus tours. It takes you all over the city and even into Brooklyn. We got some great shots of the New York skyline from Brooklyn. It was a lot of fun!
It was a packed day and we were all super exhausted by the end of it!
